Members are summoned to attend the Community Engagement Committee Meeting to be held on Thursday 12th January 2023 at 7.30pm in the Conference room in the Village Centre. Members of the public have a right to and are invited to attend the meeting.

2. Declarations of interest: To receive and record any declarations of interest.
3. Minutes of the Previous Meeting of the Community Engagement Committee: To receive and adopt the minutes of the 3rd November 2022 Community Engagement meeting.
4. Adjournment for Questions from the Public: To consider adjourning the meeting, to receive questions from
members of the public in accordance with Standing Orders.
5. Hurst Rethink: A representative from Hurst Rethink will be updating the committee on their work in the parish.

7. Community Initiatives and projects:
7.1 Budget Monitoring: To receive the budget monitoring report for the Committee.

7.2 Review of Action Plan: The committee is asked to review V5 of the action plan and to bring any updates or suggestions for further actions to the meeting.

RECOMMENDATION: The committee AGREE to adopt V5 of the Community Engagement Action Plan
7.3 High Street Update: A verbal update will be brought by Cllr Bedford and Cllr Ranger.
7.4 Santa’s Fun Sunday: A verbal update to be broughtby Cllr Bedford about how the event went.The committee are then asked to discuss the event in 2023 and the protocol for supporting them and giving a grant.
7.5 Hurst Life Protocol and Programme 2023/24: The committee are asked to review the Hurst Life Protocol and the Hurst Life programme for 2023/24.

RECOMMENDATION: The committee AGREE to adopt the Hurst life protocol and Hurst Life Programme 2023/24.
7.6 Food Bank Promotion: In November 2022 the Assistant Clerk produced leaflets advertising the food bank service in Hurstpierpoint and how to become a referring agent. These leaflets have been displayed on our noticeboards, Facebook page and website and sent to our mail list. From the 12th January 2023 the Hurstpierpoint foodbank volunteers will attend the Melting Pot café from 10am-12pm for foodbank collections. This will be trialled for three months to see if there is a demand for the service.
7.7 Fraud Prevention Talk: The Fraud Prevention talk was held on 23rd November2022 and fourteen members of the public attended. The Hurstpierpoint Fire crew also attended this meeting and spoke about their ‘safe and well’ visits.
7.8 Event Equipment List: The committee are asked to discuss the briefing note for equipment needed for upcoming events.

RECOMMENDATION: The committee AGREE to purchasing the listed items up to a value of £350 from the Tourism & Attractiveness budget code 5610 with the provision that items will be sourced locally where possible.
8. Publicity: The Committee is asked to note the following:
8.1 Communication: The Community Forum will be held on Thursday 26th January in partnership with Mid Sussex Voluntary Action at Court Bushes. The event will be a chance for local groups and organisations to come together to network and find out about what is happening locally. All councillors are invited to join this morning.
8.2 Website: The website is continually being updated by the Parish Council office and announcements are posted weekly to ensure residents have the latest news. Councillors are encouraged to feed back any changes or improvements that may be needed on the site.
8.3 Social Media: The Facebook page continues to grow and is regularly used by the Parish Office. The page currently has 805 followers. The Parish Office has started to investigate using Instagram and has set up a Parish Council Instagram page. Unfortunately, due to the way that Facebook was originally set up posts cannot be duplicated on both sites and the Parish Office would need to do them separately on both sites. More work will continue on this.
