Volunteering

Hurst Meadows

In 2021 a volunteer group was started to help with projects in Hurst Meadows. This group so far have helped with removing invasive weeds from Wilderness Wood, dock clearing in Fifteen Acre, grass removal from the Heritage Orchard and assisting with butterfly surveys.

We are still really keen to hear from any residents who would be interested in being part of this volunteer group. It is an ideal opportunity for those of you who would like to learn more about wildlife, ecology or land management and/or enjoy being outdoors in the countryside.

If you would like to learn new skills and contribute to the care of your local environment, please contact the Parish Office on 01273 833264 or complete the below volunteer enquiry form.

Hurst Meadows Butterfly Monitoring Project

Following a successful year of butterfly recording last year, we will be looking to carry out another survey this year.

Groups of volunteers carry out weekly walks of short routes around Hurst Meadows, recording the butterflies they see (and the weather). You don’t need to be a butterfly expert, beginners are welcome, but you do need the time to commit to regular weekly walks when the sun comes out, which can sometimes be at short notice!

For more information, please contact the Parish Office on 01273 833264 or complete the below volunteer enquiry form.
