Our plan to begin training a volunteer group to help with projects in Hurst Meadows is likely to be delayed by current restrictions but we are still really keen to hear from any residents who would be interested in being part of this. It is an ideal opportunity for those of you who would like to learn more about wildlife, ecology or land management and/or enjoy being outdoors in the countryside.
Sussex Clubs for Young People
Do you have skills which you would be keen to share with young people? Sussex Clubs for Young People are keen to expand the range of activities that they can offer to their group in Hurstpierpoint. These roles are flexible and do not necessarily require a regular weekly commitment. The group meets at Court Bushes Community Hub on Thursday evenings from 3.15 to 5.15 and is for young people from age eight and above.
We are also looking to form a small committee (to meet no more than four times a year) to support this group. This would widen the range of grants that we are eligible for.
For further information please contact email@example.com or speak to Lorna Cooksey (Assistant Clerk) at the Parish Office or email firstname.lastname@example.org
These volunteer roles are available subject to a DBS check.
Hurst Meadows Butterfly Monitoring Project
A new butterfly survey is starting in Hurst Meadows this year. We are registering with the UK-Butterfly Monitoring Scheme to set up a few transect walks in Hurst Meadows.
Groups of volunteers will be walking the short routes recording the butterflies they see (and the weather). The project is still being developed, but we will be running training sessions on how to record your counts and training on butterfly identification through the season.
For more information, please contact the Parish Office on 01273 833264 or complete the below volunteer enquiry form.
