The Planning Inspector, Jonathan Bore, asked Mid Sussex District Council to do further work on the likely impact of traffic movements arising from the possible 5,802 new homes to be built in the area, on local roads and particularly on Hurstpierpoint High Street.  The Planning Inspector has been clear that traffic movement studies which concentrate on road junctions would not be sufficient and that he is looking for evidence which captures the lived experience of local residents.  Working together, the three local parish councils and community groups, commissioned a traffic movement study.  The report, which includes the data collected and its analysis, is attached.   We acknowledge that our own study does not capture people’s lived experiences, but we make suggestions in our report as to what could be done by MSDC to meet this requirement. This study is part of our continued efforts to make constructive comments on this draft District Plan process.
