Parish Council Response to MSDC Parking Charges Proposals

March 5, 2025

Mid Sussex District Council (MSDC) approved a Parking Strategy for their car parks in Mid Sussex for 2020-2030, which includes the two car parks in Hurstpierpoint on Trinity Road and Brown Twins Road.  The Strategy agreed to amend the parking charges in the town and village car parks.  On 24 January 2025, MSDC wrote to a small number of stakeholders in the village to ask our thoughts on parking in our area.

The Parish Council collated a range of responses from residents, businesses and local organisations and has used this information to object to the introduction of parking charges.  The Parish Council thanks everyone for their views.  A decision will be made at the MSDC Cabinet meeting on 10 March 2025 whether to proceed with the introduction of charges and the current time table allows for a final decision to be made in September 2025 with implementation expected in December 2025.  The public are welcome to attend the meeting at 1pm in Haywards Heath but must pre-register.  You can find the Parish Council response below.
