P&E21/22.028 applications – Committee decision: The Committee considered the following and made RECOMMENDATIONS to the Planning authority:

(1) 3 Highfield Drive Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9AT. DM/21/2459. Two storey rear extension with first floor Juliette balcony, single storey rear extension, front porch and part garage conversion into a habitable room.

RECOMMENDATION: Our recommendation is that MSDC should give permission

(2) 2 East Lodge Farm Malthouse Lane Hurstpierpoint West Sussex BN6 9LA. DM/21/1118. Erection of Class E(g) building to include a mix of office, research and development and industrial processes with carpark, new vehicle access onto Malthouse Lane and associated landscaping. ‘Corrected Preliminary Ecological Appraisal received 29 June 2021. 3 Members of the Public spoke in objection.

RECOMMENDATION: Recommendation is deferred due to inaccurate Ecological Report submitted, awaiting correct report and a response from MSDC Ecological Consultant.

(3) 16 Cuckfield Road Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9SA. DM/21/2417. Magnolia (T1) – reduce crown by 1m. Trees in a Conservation Area.

RECOMMENDATION: Our recommendation is that MSDC should give permission

(4) 21 Cuckfield Road Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9RP. DM/21/2486. T1 – Bay – reduce below electricity cable height, approximately 3 metres and reduce and reshape crown by up to 3 metres. Trees in a Conservation Area.

RECOMMENDATION: Our recommendation is that MSDC should give permission

RECOMMENDATION: No further comment

(6) 48 Kemps Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9UE. DM/21/2027. Demolition of existing garage. Erection of a detached 2 storey 3 bedroom dwelling with new dropped kerb and vehicular crossover.

 RECOMMENDATION: Refusal – Inaccurate Tree Report submitted – location of house incorrect. No provision for bicycle storage, no electric vehicle charging point. Dropped kerb will reduce available parking for other residents. Over-development of site.

(7) Bridgers Cottage Langton Lane Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9HA. DM/21/2190. Single storey extension to the northern elevation of the existing garden room

RECOMMENDATION: Our recommendation is that MSDC should give permission

(13) 8 Berrylands Farm Sayers Common Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9XH. DM/21/2286. Change of use from garage conversion to hairdressing business.

RECOMMENDATION: Our recommendation is that MSDC should give permission.

(14) Little Park Farm Marchants Close Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9UZ. DM/21/2367. Removal of an existing barn, mobile home and other outbuildings. Construction of 3 dwellings. One member of the public spoke in support.

RECOMMENDATION: Our recommendation is that MSDC should give permission subject to a satisfactory traffic management plan being in place. No construction traffic before 9.30am and after 3pm to allow school traffic (vehicular & pedestrian) to clear. Access only southbound from Cuckfield Road then via Marchants Road NOT Trinity Road to keep lorries further away from the village centre and school. No waiting of construction vehicles at any time. Concerns due to the increased use of the farm track by pedestrians to access Bramble Park development and Hurst Meadows.

Permitted Development Rights removed. Satisfactory Conservation Officer report.
