RECOMMENDATION: Our recommendation is that MSDC should give permission.
4) St Georges Millennium Garden Trinity Road Hurstpierpoint West Sussex. DM/23/0084. Holm Oak tree ( T28) – Crown Reduction by 1.5m to 2m. Tree Surgery.
RECOMMENDATION: No comment
5) Court Bushes Community Hub Willow Way Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9TH. DM/23/0001. To locate 4 x 20 foot shipping containers on the Court Bushes Community Hub Car Park.

6) Church, High Street Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9TS. DM/23/0254. 3 x Lime Trees – Fell. Trees in a Conservation Area. Application was discussed by the committee as part of the ‘7’s’.
RECOMMENDATION: Our recommendation is that MSDC should refuse the application. The committee believe that ‘sap produced by the trees causing damage to cars’ is not a sufficient reason to completely fell the trees.
7) Gaybrook High Hatch Lane Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9LH. DM/23/0436. Proposed extension of rear dormer. Lawful Development Certificate.
RECOMMENDATION: No comment
8) Flat 5 Eastern House 27 Hassocks Road Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9QH. DM/23/0301. Two new roof lights to the west elevation. Application was ‘moved’ to the 7’s to be discussed by the committee. Application was discussed by the committee as part of the ‘7’s’
RECOMMENDATION: Our recommendation is that MSDC should refuse the application due to the loss of privacy to the properties immediately adjacent.
9) 85 College Lane Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9AE. DM/23/0471. T1 Liquid Ambar – reduce crown by 1 metre. T1 Holm Oak – reduce crown by 1 metre. Trees in a Conservation Area
RECOMMENDATION: Our recommendation is that MSDC should give permission.
P&E22/23084 Applications – Committee decision: The Committee considered the following and made RECOMMENDATIONS to the Planning authority:
1) 2 Beards Folly Cottages New Way Lane Hurstpierpoint West Sussex BN6 9BD. SDNP/23/00357/FUL. Extensions to stable block and conversion into two-bedroom holiday accommodation with wheelchair access.
RECOMMENDATION: Our recommendation is that SDNP should give permission. Subject to a condition that the stable remains as a holiday let and is not allowed to become a permanent residence.
2) Feathers Of Hurstpierpoint 155 High Street Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9PU. DM/23/0216. Division of existing ground floor shop to form ground floor shop to the front and a one bedroom flat to the rear, including a small extension/porch to side elevation.
RECOMMENDATION: Our recommendation is that MSDC should refuse the application. The proposal would result in the reduction in size of a retail unit within the village, and accordingly less chance of diversity amongst the retail structure. The access is not suitable for a residential property because of the prosed Bin placement. The windows in the property would be situated very close the boundary line.
3) 1 Oakfield London Road Sayers Common Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9HT. DM/23/0337. Conversion of existing double garage into habitable room and erection of replacement detached double garage.
RECOMMENDATION: Our recommendation is that MSDC should refuse the application. The proposed replacement garage is not in keeping with other properties in the area and is considered to be unsightly.
4) 43 Wilderness Road Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9XD. DM/23/0338. First floor side extension over garage, replace conservatory with two storey rear extension with elevational alterations.
RECOMMENDATION: Our recommendation is that MSDC should give permission.
5) The Meadows Little Park Farm Marchants Close Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9UZ. DM/23/0305. Proposed detached single-storey Home Office ancillary to ‘The Meadows’.
RECOMMENDATION: Our recommendation is that MSDC should refuse the application. There are incorrect details within the application – the proposed site is viewable from public land. There are mature trees nearby to the proposed site, which are at risk of ecological damage. The boundaries as presented on the drawings are incorrect. The proposed building is not in the same land parcel and is outside the curtilage of ‘The Meadows’ so cannot be ‘ancillary to’. The land is designated for agricultural use in the countryside and not for domestic use.
6) 39 Nursery Close Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9WA. DM/23/0263. Demolition of existing garage and conservatory and the erection of a two storey side extension and single storey rear extension.
RECOMMENDATION: Our recommendation is that MSDC should give permission.
7) 7 Garden House South Avenue Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9QB. DM/23/0271. Proposed rear two storey extension, including reduction in height of 1no window to front elevation to 1.05m, addition of partial vertical plain tile hanging to front and rear elevation and addition of ground floor window to north elevation.
RECOMMENDATION: No comment, other than the Committee note the number of subsequent Changes/Applications submitted potentially resulting in material alterations to the originally approved dwelling.
8) 17A Kemps Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9UF. DM/23/0283. Loft conversion
RECOMMENDATION: Our recommendation is that MSDC should refuse the application. The development is over scale, out of proportion and not in keeping with the design of the property.
9) Hurstpierpoint College College Lane Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9JS. DM/22/3789. Extension to the existing boarding house to form eight new boarding rooms and associated facilities, including two staff flats and associated alterations. (Amended elevation received on 03.02.2023 to change materials)
RECOMMENDATION: No further comment.
10) 3 Highfield Drive Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9AT. DM/23/0492. Two storey rear extension with first floor Juliette balconies, single storey rear extension, front porch and part garage conversion into a habitable room.
