MINUTES of the meeting of the Planning Committee, held on Thursday 19th December 2019 at 6.45 pm in the Village Centre, Trinity Road, Hurstpierpoint.  

Committee Members present:

P19/055 Minutes of the Planning Committee meeting held on 17th October & 21st November 2019: The minutes were received and accepted by the committee and signed by the Chairman as a true record:   

P19/056 Matters arising from the meeting of the Planning Committee held on 21st November: There were no matters arising.  

P19/057 Adjournment for questions from the public: The Committee agreed to adjourn the meeting in accordance with Clause 1(d) of Standing Orders to allow members of the public to speak. No members of the public present. 

P19/058 Planning applications delegated to Committee Chairman and Vice-Chairman in accordance with Minute P17/048.  The following Applications were reported to the Committee and the Recommendations to the Planning Authority agreed: 

  1. (1) 1 Barter Close Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9FS. DM/19/4729. Proposed first floor rear extension 

  RECOMMENDATION: Permission is granted  

  1. (2) St Georges House Hassocks Road Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9QH. DM/19/4900 T1 

Ash multi stemmed – Fell. T2 Goat Willow – Fell. 

 RECOMMENDATION: Permission is granted provided suitable replacement trees are planted. If failure in first 5 years they are replaced. 

  1. (3) 3 Vine House 5 Hassocks Road Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9QH.DM/19/4892. 

Western Red Cedar tree – Remove 4 x limbs. Grind 1 x large stump at the rear of the property  RECOMMENDATION: Permission is granted  

  1. (4) Oakhurst 11 Randiddles Close Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9BG. DM/19/5030. T1 Oak 

– to reduce entire crown by 2 metres all over, and reduce split limb by 6 metres. 

  RECOMMENDATION: Permission is granted subject to tree officer consent. 

P19/059 Planning applications – Committee decision: The Committee considered the following and made RECOMMENDATIONS to the Planning authority:

DM/19/4297.Single storey extension to West end of Clubhouse as groundsman’s storage unit. (Amended plans received 

26.11.2019 and amended description) 

  RECOMMENDATION: Permission is granted  

  1. (2) Hurstpierpoint College College Lane Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9JS. DM/19/4468. 

Two sports pavilions. 

 RECOMMENDATION: Permission is granted subject to drainage engineer’s recommendation and issues resolved, as a planning condition. 

  1. (3) Little Court Belmont Lane Hurstpierpoint Hassocks West Sussex BN6 9EP. DM/19/4719. Proposed single storey extension to garage and raising of ridge height of the main house. 

  RECOMMENDATION: Permission is granted  

  1. (4) Gothic House 23 Hassocks Road Hurstpierpoint West Sussex. DM/19/4958. Demolition and 

reconstruction of northernmost extension, internal alterations, side extension to rear of garage and other repair and reinstatement works. Listed Building Consent. 

  RECOMMENDATION: Permission is granted

reconstruction of northernmost extension, internal alterations, side extension to rear of garage and other repair and reinstatement works. Listed Building Consent.

Replacement of existing door to the south elevation. Replacement of existing window to the rear elevation, with modification to the existing opening to reduce it in height. Listed Building Consent.      RECOMMENDATION: Permission is granted
