Reeds Lane Recreation Ground Phase 2

Now Open!

Following the successful drainage project, Phase 2 of the Reeds Lane Recreation Ground development is approaching completion. The aim of the project was to create a play area that addresses community needs and enhances recreational facilities for all age groups, primarily looking at wooden and/or green equipment to blend in with the existing rustic style and in keeping with the countryside location.

The the main play area is now fully open for children and the fencing, high backed benches, picnic tables and new bins now installed. Further pitch improvements on the northern part of the recreation ground will follow in the coming weeks.

2nd April 2026: The fencing was finally removed from around the new piece of equipment and the play area is open for use! Picnic benches and bins will follow over the coming weeks and we hope residents are able to make great use of the facility over the summer months.

23 March 2026: Unfortunately the contractors have experienced some issues, which has delayed completion of the works. We have been assured by them that the park should still be open before the Easter Holidays.

March 2026: The main piece of play equipment is in place, with the installation of the inclusive roundabout and new toddler swings also well underway. We anticipate that the play area should re-open towards the end of week commencing 9th March.

February 2026: Work on the playground will commence on 23rd February 2026. The playground area will be closed between 23rd February and 5th March. The remainder of the project will follow in phases over the coming months, but is not anticipated to further impact the play area.

January 2026: Works are provisionally due to commence on site at the end of February 2026, weather dependant.

October 2025: The Section 106 funding application has now been approved by Mid Sussex District Council, an initial deposit has been paid to our contractor and we are now waiting for a start date for the initial round of works which will include:

Main piece of play equipment as chosed by local children
Inclusive roundabout
Table Tennis table
5-a-side football goals

April 2025: During the Easter holidays, we asked local children to vote on customising the main piece of play equipment for the playground. 73 responses were recorded, the winning options are identified below, many thanks to everyone who took part .
