Although West Sussex County Council is responsible for most roads and pavements in the parish, anyone is able to request changes, for example, to road layouts (called community highways schemes – CHS) or double yellow lines or speed limits (called traffic regulation orders – TRO).  A number of successful schemes have been put forward by residents, such as the reduction of speed to 40mph on the Albourne Road, and parking restrictions outside the Sayers Common Village Shop.

To reduce speeding in Hurstpierpoint village centre and make roads and narrow pavements safer for pedestrians and cyclists.To extend the 20MPH zone currently between Village Garden to Players Theatre on the High Street.  Extend west to Western Road and east to Wickham Hill and include School zone up Cuckfield Road to Manor Road and Trinity Road to Marchants Road.Approved on 7 February 2025 and waiting to be implemented in 2026/7.
