Skylarks are again singing beautifully over Hurst Meadows. Skylarks are a Red List species – this means that they are currently suffering a dramatic decline in numbers, so we are very lucky to have them. Skylarks nest on the ground, in short grass and unfortunately this makes them very vulnerable to disturbance. The nesting season has started and if our birds are to successfully nest and raise chicks they cannot be disturbed. Please keep your dog close to you on the paths across the Meadows and do not let them run across the central grassy areas. Thank you for protecting our skylarks.
