Due to the weather forecast this event has been postponed from 10th March, it will now take place on Friday 24th March.
Come and help us to plant tree whips in the Hovel Field area of Hurst Meadows (Marchants Close entrance.) We have 360 trees to plant here and these will eventually grow to a wood which will link with the existing Ancient Woodland of The Wilderness which is adjacent to the site. The trees are a mixture of native species such as blackthorn, hazel, hawthorn, oak etc and provided by the Woodland Trust. This is the last major tree-planting project planned for Hurst Meadows as we look to the natural regeneration already taking place to establish further trees in the future. All the trees planted on the day will be recorded on the Queen’s Green Canopy website.
Bring a trowel/spade and gardening gloves and wear wellies or stout boots as this field is rough and tussocky and can get very wet.
