WSCC have begun the construction stage for the Hurstpierpoint Cycle Scheme.  The route runs from Western Road along Manor Road, Cuckfield Road, Trinity Road, Brown Twins Road, St George’s Lane, Hassocks Road (B2116) and through to Stonepound crossroads using a mixture of existing carriageway, improving existing paths and constructing new sections of path. These works will connect with phases 1.1 of route between Stonepound Crossroads and Downland School. 

Please be advised that roads within Hurstpierpoint will be subject to traffic management from Monday 7^th May to Friday 2^nd August 2024. This is to safely construct the route, as part of West Sussex County Council highway improvement works. Traffic management will primarily be a footpath closures with signed diversions and temporary traffic signals for interim periods.

The planned works comprise:

• Construction of a new 3-metre-wide shared use path within Hurst Meadows
• The widening of the path in the twitten between Western Road and Manor Road
• Improving the pedestrian crossing on Cuckfield Road outside St Lawrence C of E Primary School
• Traffic signage and road marking works across the route providing direction to cyclists

Our contractor has estimated that it will take 12 weeks to complete the works with due to start at the Western Road end on 7^th May 2024 with estimated finish date of early August. 

Please note that these works are weather dependant and may be cancelled at short notice, but we will endeavour to inform you should there be significant changes to the programme.
