The Councillors and staff of Hurstpierpoint & Sayers Common Parish Council are deeply saddened to hear the announcement of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second. We join with people from around the country, Commonwealth and the world as we remember with affection and gratitude the lifetime of service given by our longest-reigning monarch, whose Platinum Jubilee we celebrated so recently.
As a mark of respect, the Union Flag on the Village Garden in Hurstpierpoint’s High Street will be flown at half-mast until the morning after the State Funeral, except for when it is required to be raised for the proclamation of the new King. Some meetings and activities may also be postponed.
An official book of condolence has been set up at the Holy Trinity Church in Hurstpierpoint and all are welcome to sign the books, light a candle, say prayers or reflect on the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second. The Church will be open daily from 8am to 6pm. Please see the Holy Trinity Hurstpierpoint Facebook page for further information.
Floral tributes can be laid at the Church and the Village Garden next to the Charity Shop.
There will also be on-line books of condolence available at www.royal.uk
Please read the statement from the Lord Lieutenant of West Sussex, Lady Emma Barnard.
Our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this sad time.
